Review:

It’s rare that you hear artists bring together a hybrid of styles in which it doesn’t sound like a schizophrenic college student that got a hold of a pro tools rig. It’s even more rare when the artist makes it work really well. Myles David Lancette has managed to do just that. Even his self description works perfectly (again, very rare with artists): think the intimacy of Fink, the stank of D’Angelo, and the organic song writing of Peter Gabriel. Somehow it works…well. A perfect example is the track “Beats the Drum” with its dirty guitar riffs supporting Lancette’s impeccable vocals. Further support comes with the thick pocket of the unscripted jam “Porch Funk Fade.” If you still doubt his vocal prowess, listen to the better-than-original cover of Jason Mraz’s “Remedy.” Dude’s got skills.
