Review:

I’ve never been to Australia, unfortunately, but i hear good things…like Whitley. I imagine the place to feel like Whitley’s music: peaceful, melodic, slightly haunting. In the singer/songwriter world it’s easy to sink into that abyss of melancholic introspection and forget that there’s an outside world, or at least forget that there’s hope in that outside world. Whitley conveys that hope. With guitars and vocals reminiscent of the best of Elliot Smith he somehow avoids the hopeless feeling of the aforementioned influence. Whitley’s music is the soundtrack to those moments of gravity where light is beckoning at the end of the road. His music is sometimes that very light. Check out “Lost in Time” and “A Shot to the Stars” and know that life is tough, but it’s good. Yeah, it’s good.
