Review:

There are some artists who create music as a collection of songs in and of themselves, to be enjoyed as such.  Lee Hester is an artist who, while creating great individual songs, creates great moments.  And not only great moments, but music that enhances whatever moment you may be enjoying at the time.  Basically, his music is a great soundtrack to life.  While I may cognitively analyze music and its supposed finer points, the honesty of the situation is that music is most likely considered ‘good’ if it creates emotion, if it moves the listener.  Each song of Lee’s does just that.  It’s new music that feels intimately familiar because it creates ‘moments’ that you could swear you’ve had before.  Whether its the ethereal “Grip,” the driving “Under the Crashing Waves,” or the especially moving Snow Patrol-ish “Crash,” each song creates a moment.  This North Carolinian surfer has already ridden waves of success in the world of TV and movie placement…time for that wave to become tidal.
