It was hard.
It was 1986. I was in 7th grade. And the shitty record stores where I lived in Iowa didn’t carry the Dead Milkmen or the Violent Femmes. From then on, finding the music I wanted hear became a quest. Whatever kind of person you are, whatever you’re feeling, whatever you’re going through…someone has written the perfect hook that puts your emotions into music. When you hear that hook, it cuts through everything, all the bullshit. It lets you know that somehow, the universe isn’t such a cruel place. The universe understands, and it gave you this perfect music to show you just that. It doesn’t just hit your ear, it hits your soul. You internalize it, and it becomes the soundtrack of your life.
Now in my professional life, I often find myself doing exactly what I was doing in 7th grade in Iowa…looking for the perfect song. At least with TuneJar, I’ll have a little help.
