TiVo and YouTube Join Forces

Now if you have Tivo, The New York Times reports you will be able to watch your favorite YouTube videos on TV. Every advancement that brings so called “non-traditional” media to the broader public changes the entire landscape and further fragments the audience. This is, per se, neither good nor bad. What it does do is open new doors while closing some old ones.

“The blurring of the television and the computer, envisioned by technology enthusiasts for years, advanced another step on Wednesday when TiVo, the popular maker of digital video recorders, announced an agreement with YouTube that will deliver millions of Web videos directly to users’ TV screens.”

Those who insist on sticking to the old ways of delivering content are quickly going the way of the buffalo. This goes for the creators of advertising messages as well.

The creative people among us will see this as an opportunity and create new ways to use this blending to their advantage. Others will scurry about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while lamenting the passing of the good old days.
