Where you originally from?

Atlanta

I still live in Atlanta, the A town yeah, southern girl.

So how long have you been doing music?

11 years now since I was pursuing it, more years of experience performing before that.

Performing like?

Before I did theater, musicals, plays and all that stuff.

Oh wow, so how did you start, and where did that begin?

Well it started with a call from Michael Bivens from New Edition. Which was crazy, he was looking for someone to complete a group, it’s kind of a long story but a phone call with him landed me in a girl group and later signed to Electra records and that was the beginning; I was the lead of that group at 14 and stayed in the group till I was 18. Then there was another group and that’s where I began really pursuing the songwriting thing because I had to put my plan b into action when we never released and we disbursed, I got it cracking.

With a couple groups that go bad, for artists that can be discouraging. When was that point for you when you felt like “Ok I might be able to do this”?

Well No, I never doubted, that’s the crazy thing. I new from a child that I would one day be on T.V. It sounds crazy but I wanted it so bad, I never saw no, I never saw a stop sign ever in my career. I just always new that if I worked, God rewards diligence. That’s what I learned.

That’s what it is!!! So listen up, she said you got to believe it cause if you don’t believe in yourself, it aint going down.

Exactly.

Im seeing that you worked with a lot of people. It was with Timbaland with “The way I are” that I actually first got to see you.

Well do you remember the Xzibit joint “Hey Now” that was me on the hook.

X is my dude that’s dope. I didn’t know that? Ok.

I believe that was my first feature. And then you saw me, a little touch of me, on the “Promiscuous girl” video which I didn’t write. A lot of people think I wrote that but no.

So was Timbaland the one that grabbed you?

Yeah I was his artist even when the Xzibit thing happened, I just signed with him in 2005.

So if you think that things happened over night she just said it was 2005.

That was 05 its 08 and about to be 2009 in a blink. Nothing comes easy and I like my life cause of that. It took me 11 years and its taking me 3 years on the label just to even release. So you hold thing s differently when you work so hard at it and Im proud.

Well you’ve been working. You’ve written for Rich Boy, Ciara, Chris Brown, Mary J Blige, Pussy Cat Dolls, Omarion, Luda and the one that tripped me out was Britney Spears. Cause that record is HOT club record.

Yeah it is, and I was just like gimmie gimmie,(singing) I didn’t no what else to do when I heard the track (singing) I just kept doing it and said I gotta turn this into something cause I couldn’t stop doing it. Now the world is singing it (lol).

Who produced that?

Danger, Timbaland’s protoge.

You also wrote Usher’s love in this club remix right…

Yeah I wrote the remix but I also wrote a song on the Confessions album called “Red Light”

And you wrote Timbaland “The way I are”

And a couple others on his album so if you don’t have go get it.

Go get it right now - Shock Value - crazy album. Who’s a writer that impresses you right now?

You know Sean Garret as a songwriter did do a lot for us as far as recognition because its such a producer driven game and we do the same thing. I appreciate that about him that he got us respect and a little bit more cake too. Jonthe Austin, I respect what he did for pop music. He wrote “We belong together”(Mariah Carey), “Be with out you”(Mary J. Blige), huge records. He wrote “Sweet Lady” at thirteen years old for Tyrese. So Jonthe Austin has been doing it, I really respect him. But if I had to take it back I would have to say Babyface, he’s one of my all time favorites. Tenderoni, Everything he touch from Tony Braxton to TLC, he could not be touched.

That was the coolest dude doing R&B baby face with stone cold face.
So the single Energy is out now, doing really good big up on that. It one five nights in a row on Hate or Love it.

There was one lady in particular that called in and said that as much as she didn’t want to say she was going through that exact thing, she was, and she said she love it. I could almost hear her buckle down.

Aww shout out to her, Im glad she could relate. What’s crazy is that men tell me they love the song too. I even get the hardest of men walking up to me talking about the song. That’s a good thing; it reassures me that there are men out there trying to fight for their relationships.

Did you write that from a personal experience?

I actually didn’t write that one but I love it. It’s the only song on my album that I had nothing to do with it other than putting my mojo on it. Of course I made it mine in the studio by adding arrangements and stuff like that. I heard it I loved it. Me, Timbaland and Polow da Don were listening to it and we just loved it. I relate to that. Love for women is like… with out getting too deep we’re hopeless romantics, we make a wrong or right out of a man which hardly ever works out and that’s what it feels like.

For the men that are seeing you on the video now and wondering if your single, are you?

Im dating, it wouldn’t be odd to see me holding hands or on a date at dinner, there’s a chance. But I don’t like industry dudes. I like normal guys. I could get with a west coaster.

So what else can we hear on the album?

All of isn’t not like “Energy” its dope mix of all music. Me, Timbo and Polo we play and you’ll hear how fun it was for us making this album.

So what other collabo’s are on it.

I don’t want to say a lot about the features but we got Lil Wayne, Snoop, Kanye and of course Timbaland is on there. I wanted to be a defining sound with a collection of artist and in house producers.

If you could name one person that you would want to work with one day who would it be?

Lauren hill hands down if I had to name one.

I would even write for her, I always said I wanted to write her come back song. she had jasmine Sullivan song, that reminds me of Lauren, she is ill. Keep putting it out there.
